The Peoria Javelinas are taking on the Surprise Rafters in the first game of the AFL. All three Rays position players on the Javelinas roster are in the starting lineup: Rhyne Hughes batting cleanup at 1B, J.T. Hall batting 6th at DH, and Matt Spring hitting 8th and catching. Hughes went 3 (all singles) for 5 with an RBI.
Hall went 1 (single) for 4 with a run scored.
Spring went 1 (single) for 4, and made some good defensive plays.
Wlodarczyk pitched a scoreless 7th. He was effective with six pitches, five strikes.
Reid gave up one hit and one ER in the 8th, Weiters tripled and scored on an infield out. Thirteen pitches, seven strikes.
