In addition to the other minor league transactions we reported last week, the Rays have signed RHRP Paul Phillips out of the Toronto Blue Jays organization according to Matt Eddy.
This is a very minor transaction as Phillips, who will turn 25 in January, pitched last year for the Dunedin Blue Jays (A+) in the Florida State League and only put up a tRA+ of 68 (5.02 ERA in 28.2 IP). He was selected by the Blue Jays out of Oakland University (MI) in the 9th round of the 2005 draft. Of note, in 2008 he last appeared for Dunedin on June 18th, going 2.0 scoreless innings. On June 26th he was released by the Jays.
