The team will open their preseason with an exhibition game on March 17 in Port Charlotte, FL, against the Rochester Red Wings. The Bulls are scheduled to play 15 exhibition games against International League opponents Louisville, Pawtucket, Norfolk and Rochester.
Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Fla., will serve as the Bulls’ home stadium throughout spring training. The ballpark will host practices and seven home exhibition games. Pitchers and catchers report to minor league camp on March 5 followed by positional players March 9. The month long spring training will break camp April 5.
This year marks the Bulls’ 11th season as the top minor league affiliate of the defending American League Champion Rays. The Bulls are coming off a 2008 campaign in which they made their second straight appearance in the Governor’s Cup finals following their seventh South Division title. The Bulls 2009 regular season begins April 9 with a home opener against their divisional foes, the Norfolk Tides.
