RHP Carlos Hernandez had his best outing of the season and the Bulls provided plenty of offense in support as Durham knocked off the Buffalo Bisons, 10-2 on Saturday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Hernandez pitched eight innings allowing only a pair of runs on Rene Rivera’s two-run home run in the fourth inning. He allowed nine hits and no walks while striking out five to pick up his fourth win of the season.
Rivera’s blast gave the Bisons a short-lived, 2-0 lead as the Bulls responded with 10 unanswered runs. They got a run in the fourth inning on Ray Sadler’s RBI-single scoring Jon Weber, three in the fifth inning on two, bases-loaded walks and a sacrifice fly, and six in the sixth inning with Weber and Sadler each hitting three-run homers.
RHP Brandon Knight took the loss allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in four and two-thirds innings.
The Bulls and Bisons continue their series on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 PM at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
