The Tampa Bay Rays have made two moves affecting the roster of the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits prior to the Biscuits Wednesday night game at Carolina:
OF Jason Perry placed on the disabled list (wrist), OF Pedro Powell received from Charlotte (A+) [23 + 2].
Perry suffered a broken bone in his wrist when he was hit by a pitch in Montgomery’s loss to Carolina on Tuesday night. He is expected to miss 3-6 weeks due to the injury. Powell was batting .308 (24-78) with no home runs and 10 RBI prior to his promotion. He had also stolen 12 bases for the Stone Crabs. Powell will be assigned a uniform number upon his arrival in Zebulon, NC.
The Biscuits continue one player shy of the Southern League maximum of 24 active players. Two players (Jeremy Hellickson and Jason Perry) are currently on the disabled list.
