For a little background on the VSL, teams play a 70 game schedule ending this year on August 8th. There are only seven teams in the league this season after the Astros closed their academy in December. They made a slight change to the roster rules for this year, the active roster limit remains at 35, but only 30 players are eligible to play in each game. The are no age limits on players, but no player may have four or more years of prior minor league service. Draft-eligible players may not participate in the VSL, with the exception of two players from Puerto Rico on each team.
