The Tampa Bay Rays have made the following moves affecting the roster of Double-A Montgomery prior to their series finale against Birmingham on Tuesday night: 1B Rhyne Hughes promoted to Durham Bulls, 1B Matt Fields received from Charlotte Stone Crabs.
Hughes led the Southern League with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs at the time of his promotion, hitting .252 in 58 games with the Biscuits. Fields was batting .255 with the first-year Stone Crabs, second in the Florida State League with 11 home runs. He also led the FSL with 44 RBIs in 50 games with Charlotte. He will be making his Double-A debut with Montgomery.
Fields will be assigned a uniform upon his arrival at Regions Park. The Biscuits continue one player shy of the Southern League maximum of 24 active players. Two players are currently on the disabled list (Jeremy Hellickson, Jason Perry), while two others (Pat Burrell, Chad Bradford) are currently on Major League rehab assignments.
Congratulations to both these guys. Who's left to play first for Charlotte Stone Crabs? Williams? Move Sheridan up from Bowling Green? Maybe Sonoqui from XST can fit in somewhere at first base?
ReplyDeleteSomeone said Henry Wrigley will be promoted from BG, said they heard it on the broadcast of the Hot Rods last night.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Matt Hall is coming back from Durham again, I'll post it later when I get a couple of transactions. I'm really happy for Matt Fields.
I'm happy for both guys not just one of them Doug??
