Heavy rains suspended play in the middle of the fourth inning of game three of a five-game series between the Biscuits and Jacksonville Suns on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The Suns were leading 5-1 at the time of the suspension. The game will be completed on Wednesday night beginning at 6:05 PM, with a seven-inning game to follow.
The Biscuits struck first with a run in the first inning off of Suns' starter Graham Taylor. Desmond Jennings led off with a single and promptly stole second base. A batter later, Rhyne Hughes collected his league-leading 44th RBI with a single through the hole on the right side of the infield, scoring Jennings for a 1-0 lead.
Jacksonville responded emphatically in the second, plating five runs, all earned, off of Biscuits' starter Heath Rollins. Tim Torres started the rally with a one-out single and Bryan Petersen singled behind him. Chris de la Cruz tied the game with an RBI single and Ryan Klosterman gave the Suns the lead with a fourth consecutive single. A third run scored when Drew Anderson threw errantly to first base attempting to complete a double play. Lorenzo Scott then capped the scoring in the inning with a two-run home run to left field. Scott's fifth home run of the season gave Jacksonville a 5-1 lead.
Cesar Suarez will be at the plate for Montgomery when play resumes on Wednesday. Neither team has announced who will be on the mound for the re-start. Tickets from Tuesday’s suspended game are redeemable at the Biscuits Box Office for a voucher for any remaining Biscuits’ home game. RHP Aneury Rodriguez (2-7, 6.35) will oppose RHP Kyle Winters in the night-cap, constituting game four of the series.
