The Candidates: Rashad Eldridge, Jason Perry, Fernando Cortez, Desmond Jennings. Eldridge, 27, has been promoted to Durham, but for the Biscuits in May he hit .327/.385/.383 in 107 AB's. The 28 year-old Perry batted .254/.405/.524 with 4 HR's in 63 AB's. Cortez, 27, was .316/.379/.443 in 79 AB's. Jennings improved on a great April to hit .368/.452/.547 in 106 AB's in May.
The Winner: Desmond Jennings. The 22 year-old centerfielder continues to dominate the Southern League. One key improvement he made in May was increasing his walk rate, he actually had more walks (16) than strikeouts (14) for the month.
