
The Stone Crabs added another run to their total in the third inning. John Matulia led off the inning with a double to right. Shawn Riggans followed with a single to left that scored Matulia and increased the Stone Crabs lead to 4-0.
Clearwater struck for back to back one run innings in the sixth and seventh. In the sixth it was Michael Durant with a double to left and then later scoring on a wild pitch by Jeremy Hall. Matt Rizzotti hit a solo home run in the seventh to bring the Threshers to within two runs of the lead. But the Threshers could not produce any more runs and the Stone Crabs held on to win 4-2.
Jeremy Hall won his league leading twelfth game by pitching 6 innings and allowing 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 1. Austin Hinkle held the lead by pitching 1 inning and surrendered 1 run on 1 hit. Richard De Los Santos pitched 2 shutout innings and struck out 3 to earn the save. Michael Cisco was the losing pitcher for the Threshers.
What Went Right: Henry Wrigley; 2 for 4 with a home run, 3 RBI’s and a run scored.
What Went Wrong: Matt Hall; 0-3 with a K.
A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs and Threshers face off for game two of the series on Thursday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Jake McGee (0-0) will be on the mound for Charlotte and it will be Drew Naylor (5-8) for Clearwater.
