Durham Bulls Lose 8-4 To Norfolk Tides In Game 2

Bulls LHP James Houser struggled as Norfolk’s offense came alive leading to an 8-4 win for the Tides over the Durham Bulls on Saturday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Houser (4-5) threw 84 pitches in three and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and three walks. Norfolk tagged him for a run in the first inning, four in the third and a pair in the fourth before Matt DeSalvo came on to relieve him. DeSalvo pitched five and two-thirds innings in relief allowing a run on two hits while striking out five.

The Bulls managed a pair of runs in the third inning on Ray Olmedo’s sacrifice fly scoring Rhyne Hughes and Matt Joyce’s RBI-groundout scoring Elliot Johnson. They mustered another deuce in the sixth on Jon Weber’s RBI-double scoring Chris Richard and Hughes’ double scoring Weber.

Andy Mitchell picked up his ninth win of the season for the Tides lasting six innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits while striking out three.
