The Game: The Hudson Valley Renegades used a three hour rain delay to their advantage as they shut-out the Aberdeen Ironbirds 2-0 in a rain shortened game on Wednesday night at Ripken Stadium.
The Renegades wasted no time in jumping out to an early lead by posting two runs in the first inning. Dustin Biell led off the game with a single on a bunt and later advanced to second on a ground out by Tyler Bortnick. Eli Sonoqui later followed with an RBI double to score Bortnick. Elias Otero drove home the second run of the inning with a line drive to right that scored Eli Sonoqui.
Alexander Colome was lights out the whole game, throwing a complete game shut-out. Colome allowed three hits while striking out 9 batters on the night. Tyler Sexton was the losing pitcher for Aberdeen.
What Went Right: Alexander Colome; improved to 4-1 on the year with a 7 inning shut-out with 9 K’s.
What Went Wrong: n/a
A Look Ahead: The Renegades will play the Ironbirds in game two of the four game series on Thursday night at Ripken Stadium. Jason McEachern (0-2) will start for Hudson Valley against Aberdeen’s Kenny Moreland (5-1).
