Stone Crabs Week in Review: 7/9 to 7/15

The Charlotte Stone Crabs took over the top spot in the FSL South Division by posting a 4-3 record for the week and are leading St. Lucie by a half game. The week was highlighted by Emeel Salme who has been tearing it up at the plate, holding a 10 game hitting streak.

Hitting Leaders: With the promotion of Cody Cipriano, Reid Fronk took over the team lead in doubles with 12 and Henry Wrigley took over the team lead in home runs with 4 among active Stone Crabs players. Ian Paxton leads the team with a .308 batting average. Emeel Salem has 6 triples and Shawn O'Malley is ranked fifth in the league in steals.

Pitching Leaders: Darin Downs continues to pace the pitching staff, leading the starters with a 2.23 ERA which is third best in the league. Downs also leads the league in strikeouts with 91, David Newmann is seventh in the league with 77. Jeremy Hall leads the league with 10 wins and Downs is right behind him with 9.

Team Stats: The offense maintained their eighth place rank with an average of .247. The pitching staff dropped to seventh place with the team ERA increasing to 3.65.

Transaction: Shawn Riggans added to roster on MLB rehab (7/13/09). Cody Cipriano promoted to Montgomery (7/13/09). Michael McCormick added to roster from Bowling Green (7/13/09). Juan Cuello added to roster from Bowling Green (7/15/09).
