Malm said in a text message the Rays have reported the deal to the commissioner’s office and are waiting for approval before he can officially sign it, which “should happen within the next couple days.”
Excellent news. You can see some scouting info on Malm here.
YES.
ReplyDeleteTwo Questions:
1. How will the Rays push him through the system?
I think he's advanced enough to push him to Hudson Valley next year, and take him through the system rather quickly, but not in way that it's considered we're rushing him.
2. Do you think Diekroeger will sign? some over at DRaysbay are pessimistic about signing him. I am very optimistic he will sign, probably for the same amount as Lobstein did last year($1.5 Million).
Jeff Malm...a young Travis Haffner type hitter, but better defensively.
ReplyDelete1. I think they'll be pretty aggressive since his hit tool is pretty advanced. I could see a cameo in either Princeton or the GCL this year and then in Hudson Valley next year like you said.
ReplyDelete2. It's really 50-50. My gut says it gets done, if only because I don't think the Rays would use a 2nd round pick on a guy and then not get him signed.
Hes supposed to play with the stone crabs this year..
ReplyDeletenext year where do you suppose they put Malm?Hud Val or Bowling Green probaly?Or does it depend on the performance in Charlotte? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI would guess Hudson Valley. In regards to the report he's going to play with Charlotte this year... I'll believe it when I see it.
