Palm Beach answered back in the bottom of the first. Jose Garcia led off the inning with a double to left. Adron Chambers followed with a single to give the Cardinals runners on the corners. Curt Smith then plated two runs with a double to center, scoring Garcia and Chambers to give the Palm Beach the lead. Both clubs dueled the remainder of the game, keeping each other of the scoreboard leading to a 2-1 Stone Crabs loss.
Ryan Morse was charged with the loss, surrendering 2 runs on three hits while recording 9 strikeouts. Tommy Rafferty pitched the remaining 2 innings and allowed no hits while striking out 1 and walking 3. George Brown was the winning pitcher for Palm Beach.
What Went Right: Ryan Morse; amazing outing despite the loss, 9 strikeouts and allowed no hits outside the first inning, at one point retiring 18 batters in a row.
What Went Wrong: Offensive Production; only able to push across 1 run on 6 hits while stranding 8 runners and going 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position.
A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs head to Port St. Lucie to kick off a three game series against the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field on Monday. They will play a doubleheader with David Newmann pitching game one and Austin Hinkle pitching game two.
