
That’s when the Stone Crabs struck for the one and only run of the contest. John Matulia drew a walk to get things started, then advanced to second on a steal. Drew Anderson then delivered an RBI single to score Matulia and give the Stone Crabs the 1-0 win.
Jack McGee was solid in the three innings he pitched, allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 3 with a walk in the no decision. Brian Flores earned his first win of the season by throwing 3 shut-out innings allowing a hit and recoding a strike out and a walk. Richard De Los Santo picked up the save with a no hit inning with a strike out to close the game. Jaimie Garcia suffered the loss for Palm Beach.
What Went Right: Pitching; combined for a complete game shut-out only allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
What Went Wrong: Run Production; despite having 8 runners on base (4 hits and 4 walks, the Stone Crabs only produced 1 run, going 1 for 3 with runners in scoring position and leaving 4 stranded.
A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs and Cardinals play game two of the doubleheader. Jeremy Hall (13-5) will face Arquimedes Nieto (0-1).
