The Game: The Princeton Rays dropped the series finale with the Bristol Sox by the score of 4-1 on Saturday night at Hunnicutt Field. The Rays took an early lead as Cody Rogers tripled and later scored on a throwing error to put the Rays ahead 1-0.
Bristol took the led in the fourth inning. Brady Shoemaker doubled to left to get things started, Then Leighton Pangilnan hit a two run homer to give the Sox a 2-1 lead.
The Sox added another run in the fifth inning. Trayce Thompson led of the inning with a single and then advanced to third on a single by Jared McDonald. Thompson later scored on a ground ball by Anthony Casario to increase the Bristol lead to 3-1.
The Sox posted an insurance run in the ninth. Brady Shoemaker doubled to start the inning and then advanced to third on a sac bunt by Miguel Gonzalez. Leighton Pangilnan followed with an RBI double to give the Sox a 4-1 victory.
Trevor Shull suffered the loss, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk in 4 innings. Alex Koronis followed with 3 shut-out innings with a hit and 4 strikeouts. Jairo De La Rosa pitched the final 2 innings and allowed a run on 2 hits while striking out 3. Alvaro Garcia was the winner for Bristol.
What Went Right: Alex Koronis; 3 shut-out innings in relief with 4 K's.
What Went Wrong: The Offense; combined for 11 strikeouts and went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.
A Look Ahead: The Rays begin a three game series against the Burlington Royals at Hunnicutt Field on Sunday.
