The Game: The Princeton Rays shut out the Bristol Sox 9-0 on Friday night at Hunnicutt Field. The Rays took the lead in the second inning and never looked back. Geno Glynn led off the inning with a single to center. Jason Patton followed with a two run homer to put the Rays ahead 2-0.
The Rays added to their lead in the fourth inning. Geno Glynn doubled to left and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Ramon Novas followed with an RBI single to right to put the Rays up 3-0.
Princeton struck for three more runs in the fifth inning. Tomas Francisco tripled to center to led off the inning. Kyle Spraker followed with an RBU single to center that scored Francisco. Spraker later advanced to third on back to back stolen bases. Cody Rogers then delivered an RBI single to score Spraker. Geno Glynn picked up an RBI to put the Rays ahead 6-0.
The Rays got another run in the seventh on a solo home run by Cody Rogers. Then two more runs in the eighth inning on a two run single by Tomas Francisco to give Princeton the 9-0 victory.
Zachary Rosscup earned the win, pitching 5 innings and allowed 3 hits while striking out 6 and walking 1. Scott Shuman pitched the next 3 innings also allowing 3 hits with 1 strikeout. Tyler Oaks finished the final inning and gave up 1 hit with 1 strike out. David Holmberg was the losing pitcher for Bristol.
What Went Right: Geno Glynn; 3 for 3 with a double, RBI and 3 runs scored.
What Went Wrong: Brian Bryles and Seth Henry; only Princeton players not to record a hit.
A Look Ahead: The Rays and Sox conclude the series on Saturday night at Hunnicutt Field. Trevor Shull (4-2) will be on the mound for Princeton.
