From the "Do you remember him?" file, the Lake County Captains (who are joining the Bowling Green Hot Rods in moving from the Sally to the Midwest League in 2010) have named Mickey Callaway as their pitching coach:
Callaway joins the Indians organization and this marks his debut as a coach after retiring from baseball last year. Callaway comes to Lake County after spending the last five seasons pitching in Korea and Taiwan. He was named the interim head coach for the Texas A&M International Dustdevils baseball team at the beginning of the 2008 season before signing a contract with the Laredo Broncos of the United Summer League.Welcome back to our old friends, and congratulations to Mickey.
Originally a seventh round selection by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1996 [draft], he made his Major League Debut in 1999 and spent parts of five seasons in the Majors with the Devil Rays, Texas Rangers and Anaheim Angels compiling a 4-11 record with a 6.27 ERA in 40 games/20 starts at the Major League level. He was named the Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2001 for Tampa Bay and in 2002 for Anaheim.
