With only 4 pitchers left in the Top 15 countdown, who is your #1 Rays pitching prospect? Kevin hinted at who will be at #4, so I only included these three. The prospect lists seem split between Davis and Hellickson, with Moore coming on fast after leading all of the minors in strikeouts last season. Support your pick in the comments.
In our earlier personal lists post, Kevin, Andy and I went Davis-Hellickson-Moore. Jake went Hellickson-Davis-Moore, and so did Stacy Long and Sickels and BA. So 3 for Davis, 4 for Hellickson, and everyone had Moore 3rd amongst pitchers.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Davis because he got 5 or 6 major league starts last year and will probably be in the Rays rotation out of spring training. I think Moore has a ton of potential and will probably be the number one pitching prospect next year.
ReplyDeleteHellickson, because he impresses me a lot with his not walking people, and because he's maintained a healthy K/9 rate through the minors.
ReplyDeleteRight now I feel Hellickson has a slight lead over Davis. However, when it's all said and done, in a few years Matt Moore may very well turn out to be the best of the 3.
ReplyDeleteDAvis in my opinion should be the obvious pick.Great stuff, has potential to be top of the rotation guy, workhorse. Hellickson Is still good. Above average stuff with great control, but I still have concerns about size and injury. His size most likely makes him not as durable as Davis. Its not that I dont like Hellickson(he is def. our #2 prospect) I just think Davis is better
ReplyDeleteKind of suprised at Hellickson beating Davis 49-40 (as of now). Kind of figured with Davis likely to make the Rays rotation and the questions about Hellickson's projection and injuries (to be fair, the shoulder strain last season was on a pickoff move, not while pitching to the plate), Davis would win handily. Wonder how the 11% supporting Moore would have voted if I'd left him off and just did Hellickson vs. Davis? Maybe I Perot'd Davis :). Didn't think Moore would get that much support since he hasn't even pitched in high-A yet.
ReplyDeleteFun stuff. I'll try to mix in more polls every so often. We did a lot of them a year ago and kind of got away from them. Let me know if you have an idea for one.
Hellickson all the way... are you kidding me.. not even close.
