The Game: The Bowling Green Hot Rods kicked off the 2010 season on the road against the Fort Wayne Tin Caps on Thursday at Parkview Field. The Hot Rods fell to Fort Wayne 7-2 in the contest.
Fort Wayne posted a huge four run inning in the second to take the lead. Nathan Freiman singled to left followed by a single by Jason Hagerty. Bo Davis then tripled to right to drive home both runners. Davis later scored on a double by Jonathan Galvis. Jeudy Valdez doubled home Galvis to give them a 4-0 lead.
Fort Wayne picked up two more runs in the bottom of the third. Edinson Rincon drew a walk to lead off the inning. Then Nathan Feriman struck a two run home run to increase the lead 6-0.
The Hot Rods took the zero off the board in the seventh inning. Brett Nommensen singled to lead off the inning. Then Mark Thomas struck a two run homer to give the Hot Rods their only two runs of the game.
Fort Wayne added another run in the bottom of the seventh. Jeudy Valdez doubled to left then later scored on a wild pitch by Deivis Mavares to give them the 7-2 margin of victory.
Alex Colome suffered the loss, allowing 6 runs on 6 hits while striking out 6 and walking 1 in 3 innings. Deivis Mavarez pitched 4 innings and allowed 1 run on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts and a walk. Jake Sullivan pitched the final frame and struck out 2 of the 3 hitters he faced.

A Look Ahead: The Hot Rods (0-1) and Tin Caps (1-0) face off in game two of the series Friday night at Parkview Field. Kyle Lobstein is the scheduled starter for Bowling Green against Jerry Sullivan of Fort Wayne.
