The Game: The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the St. Lucie Mets 6-3 on Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Tim Beckham was the offensive powerhouse of the game as he was responsible for all six of the Stone Crabs runs, driving in five and scoring himself for the sixth.
St. Lucie jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Richard Lucas singled to short followed by a single by Sean Ratliff. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Joshua Satin drove home the first run with a ground out to the mound. Stefan Welch then drove home another run with a single to right to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
The Stone Crabs rallied back to take the lead in the bottom of the second. Reid Fronk singled to left. Matt Hall and Isaias Velasquez each drew a walk to load the bases. Tim Beckham drove home three runs with a triple to center to give the Stone Crabs a 3-2 lead.
The Mets tied the game in the top of the fourth. Eric Campbell drew a walk to get things started. Raul Reyes then drove home the run with a double to tie the game 3-3.
The Stone Crabs regained the lead in the fourth inning. Matt Hall led of with a free pass after getting hit by a pitch. Isaias Velasquez singled to right to move Hall to third. Tim Beckham then drove home two runs with his second triple of the game. Beckham later scored on a sac fly by Henry Wrigley to take a 6-3 lead.
Marquis Fleming and Zach Quate combined to keep the Mets off the board and secure the 6-4 victory.
