The Game: The Charlotte Stone Crabs fell to the St. Lucie Mets 5-3 on Tuesday night at Charlotte Sports Park.
St. Lucie took an early lead in the third inning. Joshua Satin homered to right to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
The Stone Crabs battled to take the lead in the home half of the inning. Isaias Velasquez got things started with a single to left. Velasquez then advanced to third on a single by Tim Beckham. Beckham stole second to put another runner in scoring position. Henry Wrigley drove home two runs with a triple to right field that scored Velasquez and Beckham. Wrigley later score on an RBI single by Matt Sweeney to take a 3-1 lead.
St. Lucie pulled to within a run of the lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Eric Campbell.
The Mets took the led in the seventh inning. Richard Lucas singled to short with one out to put a runner on. Sean Ratliff the homered to right. Stefan Welch followed with a double to right then later scored on an RBI single by Eric Campbell to take a 5-3 lead.
The Stone Crabs could not push across a run in the final frames and lost 5-3.
Joseph Cruz pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in the no decision. Michael Jarman suffered the loss, surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits with a walk in 2 innings. Tommy Rafferty pitched 2 no-hit frames with 3 strikeouts and a walk.
Stone Crabs Player of the Game: Tommy Rafferty; pitched two no-hit innings to keep the Stone Crabs in the game while the offense tried to catch up.

A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs (9-8) and Mets (8-10) face off for game two of the series on Wednesday night at Charlotte Sports Park. Frank De Los Santos (2-0, 0.82) starts for the Stone Crabs against Kyle Allen (2-0, 3.60).
