CHATTANOOGA, TN – Jesus Castillo tossed seven innings of three-hit, scoreless ball, and the Biscuits dropped their third straight to the Lookouts by a score of 6-1.
The game entered the fifth inning scoreless when Chattanooga finally got to Biscuits starter Jeremy Hall. After Mike Rivera led the frame off with a walk, Anthony Hatch doubled to put runners at second and third. A Greg Sexton error at third allowed Rivera to score, and with two outs and the bases loaded, Corey Smith singled to center to put the Lookouts in front 3-0.
Dee Gordon led off the seventh inning with a triple and scored on one of Jaime Pedroza’s four hits on the evening to make it 4-0, and Anthony Hatch belted a two-run homer in the eighth to extend the lead to 6-0.
Montgomery’s lone run came in the top of the ninth, when Greg Sexton singled with one out and scored on a Matt Fields double.
Sexton was the only Biscuit to record multiple hits, going 2-4 with a single and double. Pedroza was 4-4 with two doubles and two singles for Chattanooga.
Hall (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs – all unearned – on four hits over his five innings of work. Castillo goes to 1-1 in his seven dazzling frames.
The Biscuits finish the roadtrip with their first three-game losing streak of the season, and fall below the .500 mark for the first time since they were 1-2. After starting the roadtrip off 3-1, the Biscuits dropped five of six to finish it off.
LHP Alex Torres takes the ball for the Biscuits as they return to Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday to oppose LHP Mike Minor and the Mississippi Braves, beginning at 7:05.
