The Game: The Charlotte Stone Crabs defeated the Bradenton Marauders 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at McKechnie Field. The Stone Crabs showed why they are the best pitching team in the league, holding the best offense in the league scoreless until the final frame to earn the series win.
The Stone Crabs broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning. Kyeong Kang singled to center to get things started. Reid Fronk followed with a single to move Kang into scoring position. Matt Hall drove home the run with a single to score Kang. Fronk would later score on a single by Isaias Velasquez to take a 2-0 lead.
Charlotte added an insurance run in the seventh inning. Once again it was Kyeong Kang and Reid Fronk setting the table with back to back singles. Matt Hall plated the run with a line drive to left scoring Kang and increasing the lead to 3-0.
Bradenton collected their only run of the game in the ninth inning. Quincy Latimore doubled to right then later scored on a double By Jeremy Farrell. But Josh Satow battled back to retire the next two hitters to strand the runner at second and secure the 3-1 win.
Joseph Cruz earned the victory, throwing 6 shut-out innings and allowing only 3 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Matt Busch followed with 2 more shut-out innings allowing no hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. Josh Satow recorded his fourth save of the year with 1 inning pitched, allowing 1 run on 2 hits with a strikeout.
Stone Crabs Player of the Game: Joseph Cruz; cruised to his first victory of the season with 6 shut-out innings.

A Look Ahead: The Stone Crabs (13-9) head to Digital Domain Park to begin a three game series against the St. Lucie Mets (9-14) on Monday. Frank De Los Santos (3-0, 2.12) will be on the mound for the Stone Crabs.
