MONTGOMERY, AL – Friday, May 14th is Dale Murphy Night presented by WSFA 12 at Riverwalk Stadium. When the Biscuits take on the Huntsville Stars at 7:05, the two-time National League MVP will be available to mingle with fans and sign autographs.
The night will begin with Murphy sharing a testimony on behalf of the “I Won’t Cheat” Foundation, a national campaign to teach young athletes about the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs. Then, after Murphy tosses out the honorary first pitch, he’ll be available to sign autographs on the concourse.
“When you look at the career he put together and couple that with the class he has always carried himself with, Dale Murphy is second-to-none,” said Biscuits President and General Manager Greg Rauch. “Biscuits fans will be lucky to have him here.”
The former Atlanta Braves star won MVPs in 1982 and 1983, and made seven All-Star appearances in his 18-year professional career. Perhaps most notably, in an era marred by steroid scandals, Murphy has been lauded for his clean, fair play.
Gates will open on Friday at 5:50. Tickets can be purchased at the Biscuits Tallapoosa Street box office, by calling 323-2255, or by visiting www.biscuitsbaseball.com.
