MONTGOMERY, AL – Jacksonville (18-10) banged out 19 base-knocks while the Biscuits (16-12) managed just three, and the Suns burnt the Biscuits 13-1 Friday at Riverwalk Stadium. The runs and hits totals were both season-worsts for the Biscuits staff.
For the second night in a row, the Suns got on the board in the first. Lorenzo Scott and Osvaldo Martinez knocked back-to-back singles to start the frame, then Brandon Tripp scored Scott with a sacrifice fly.
A solo shot from Martinez made it 2-0 Suns in the third, then Jacksonville unloaded on Biscuits starter Rayner Oliveros in the fourth. Matt Dominguez, Tim Torres, and Jason Delaney all clocked doubles, then Scott tripled and Martinez singled. When it was all said and done, the Suns had pushed across four to make it 6-0.
The Biscuits lone run came in the bottom of the fourth on a Chris De La Cruz solo-homer.
Jacksonville would score four more times in the seventh inning, keyed by a bases-clearing double off the bat of Delaney. They’d tack on one in the eighth on a Vinny Rotino single, and two more in the ninth on a Scott homer.
All nine Suns reached, and seven enjoyed multi-hit nights.
Oliveros (0-3) took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in four innings of work. Ryan Reid gave up three in relief, and Eddie Morlan allowed four. Jacksonville starter Jose Rosario (2-2) went six innings, allowing just two hits for the win.
LH David Newmann throws for the Biscuits in the series rubber match on Saturday night against Suns RH Jeff Allison with a game time of 7:05.
