The Charlotte Stone Crabs return to Charlotte Sports Park on Sunday, May 16 for a 10-game homestand with series against the Tampa Yankees (New York), Brevard County Manatees (Milwaukee Brewers) and Palm Beach Cardinals (St. Louis).
The weekday games will feature daily promotions including Dollar Dog Night presented by Red Hog Chicago on Mondays, Seniors Eat Free Tuesdays presented by Ruhl Law Group, Chick-fil-A Winning Wednesday and Thursty Thursday presented by The Ice House Pub. Friday’s game will be Superhero Night where kids can dress as their favorite superhero while local heroes are celebrated on the field before the game, and Saturday will feature a post-game fireworks show.
The Stone Crabs will start the homestand with a four-game series on Sunday, May 16 against the Tampa Yankees -- last year’s FSL Championship Series and eventual league champion. In honor of the championship rematch, the team will host “Rematch Night” with in-game promotions and contests celebrating classic rivalries.
Sunday will also be Matt LaRocca Night at the ballpark to benefit the local fifth-grader from Punta Gorda who has an inoperable brain tumor. Special $10 tickets with portions of the proceeds benefitting the Matt LaRocca Fund are available for the game and include a free Stone Crabs hat. The series continues at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, May 17 with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. for Dollar Dog Night presented by Red Hot Chicago. Hot dogs are just $1 throughout the entire game.
The rubber match will be played on Tuesday, May 18 with Seniors Eat Free Tuesday presented by Ruhl Law Group. All fans 55 and over will receive a free hot dog, bag of chips and soft drink with the purchase of a game ticket, which starts at just $6 for general admission. Tuesday also marks KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night tickets where fans can receive a buy-one, get-one-free ticket offer if they present a KRAFT Singles wrapper to the box office at the time or purchase. The series concludes at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19 with a Chick-fil-A Winning Wednesday. If the Stone Crabs win, everyone in attendance will receive a coupon for a free sandwich from the Chick-fil-A in Port Charlotte as they exit the stadium. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Charlotte will start a new, four-game series with the Brevard County Manatees on Thursday, May 20 with a Thursty Thursday presented by The Ice House Pub. Thursty Thursday drink specials include $1 domestic drafts and $2 domestic bottles through the fifth inning of the game. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
The Stone Crabs will continue the series against the Manatees with Superhero Night on Friday, May 21. The Stone Crabs front office will dress up as superheroes, and kids and adults alike are encouraged to join them. The team will also honor local superheroes from the community with an on-field, pre-game ceremony. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 22 features a variety of events at the park in addition to the game. The day will start with the second annual “Doctors vs. Lawyers” Charity Softball Game on the main field starting at 12:00 p.m. Then, the city of North Port takes center stage as the Stone Crabs celebrate North Port Community Night at the ballpark with different vehicles, demonstrations and activities highlighting the area. To cap off the busy night, a dazzling fireworks display will fill the sky immediately after the game courtesy of your Southwest Florida Chevy Dealers. Gates officially open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. game.
The teams wrap up the series at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 23 with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. This Sunday is a Stone Crabs Kids Club Day presented by Wendy’s, so all Kids Club members will receive free admission. Call 941-206-HITS to sign your child up for the Kids Club.
