[Game recap provided by Joe Davis of Montgomery Biscuits.]
MONTGOMERY, AL – For the second game in a row and the fourth in the last seven games, the Biscuits (1-2) succumbed double-digits in runs and fell to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (2-1) by a final of 11-1.
The Jaxx put the game out of reach in the third, scoring five times to break a 1-1 tie. They brought ten batters to plate, and got a three-run homer from Dustin Ackley and RBI singles from Nate Tenbrink and Ralph Henriquez to make it 6-1. Three of the runs were unearned following a Matt Fields error.
West Tenn scored twice more in the seventh on a Tenbrink homer against Heath Rollins to go up 8-1, and tacked on three more against Rayner Oliveros in the ninth to complete the scoring.
The Biscuits managed just four hits in the game, scoring their lone run on Fields homer to tie the game in the second.
Jeremy Hall (4-4) took the loss, allowing six runs – three earned – on five hits and three walks over five innings. It marked the eighth consecutive game that the Biscuits’ starter failed to pitch into the sixth. West Tenn starter Jarrett Grube (1-0) allowed a run on just three hits while striking out seven his seven innings to garner the win.
Tenbrink, who entered the contest with 4 RBI all season, finished a triple short of the cycle and drove home four in the game. Cody Cipriano led the Biscuits by going 1-2 with a pair of walks.
The Biscuits are now 2-7 over their last nine, the worst nine-game stretch of the season.
