(Syracuse, NY) Jose Lobaton homered and singled in a seven-run fifth, as the Bulls blew past Syracuse 12-3 on Monday night.
Lobaton homered to right-center to start the rally against Erik Arnesen (0-2) extending Durham's lead to 2-0. Arnesen ran out of gas with two out, allowing five straight to reach on a single, three walks and a hit batter. Ron Villone then gave up a three-run double to Angel Chavez to dead center, extending the lead to 7-0, before an error scored the final run of the frame after a Lobaton infield single.
It was Durham's second seven-run inning of a 6-2 road trip. The Bulls have matched a season-high, improving to ten over .500 at 34-24.
Richard De Los Santos (5-2) allowed all three Syracuse runs in the fifth. Three Durham relievers held the Chiefs scoreless the rest of the way.
The Bulls collected 12 hits and drew 11 walks. Desmond Jennings had three hits, including a three-run double. Chris Richard celebrated his birthday with a single and a homer. The Bulls also played error-free ball throughout the eight-game road trip.
