Dyer Named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week
Shane Dyer was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on June 6. Dyer made his fourth FSL start of the season on Friday against the Daytona Cubs after being promoted to the Stone Crabs on May 14. During the game, Dyer pitched 7 1/3 innings shut-out innings while only surrendering 2 hits and striking out 9. The scoreless outing was his second in a row without surrendering an earned run. Dyer is holding a 1.07 ERA with the Stone Crabs with a 2-1 record while maintain a 1.47 and 4-4 record overall combined with his 7 appearances in Bowling Green.

I bumped this down a little to focus the draft coverage, no offense to Jim or Shane. In fact, what an honor for Shane after the promotion! I'll try to make it up to him with a profile in the coming days/weeks.
ReplyDeleteGreat story of a guy who lost his spot in the rotation last season at BG, was sent back to BG this year, excelled, was promoted, and named Pitcher of the Week for the entire League.
That's the kind of guy any minor league fan can get behind. Congrats to Shane on the honor, and on not giving up after a rough '09.
