Charlotte pitcher Matt Moore was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 14 through June 20. Moore won both of his starts during the week, allowing just 1 run in 13 innings while recording an amazing 20 strikeouts. Moore struggled to get that first win, but has been tearing things up ever since. He has been able to lower his ERA to 5.13 while leading the organization in strikeouts. Moore is now 3-7 on the year with 5.13 ERA with 98 strikeouts.
Moore was drafted by the Rays in the eighth round of the 2007 Draft out of Moriarty High School in New Mexico. This is Moore's second pitcher of the week award, also winning the honor in 2009 while pitching for Bowling Green.
