The Tampa Bay Rays have promoted Leslie Anderson and Sergio Espinosa from the Charlotte Stone Crabs to the Montgomery Biscuits.
Anderson has played 21 games for the Stone Crabs and was hitting .262 with 2 home runs and 11 RBI's.
Espinosa has made three relief apperances for a total of 7.2 innings maintaining a 1.17 ERA with 5 strikeouts and a walk.
Is there a big chance we see both of these guys in Septmeber? And if so who gets taken off the 40 man to make room for them?
ReplyDeleteNot a whole lot of games played to warrant promotions. Would rather see some of the deserving minor league players, who have been with the Rays all along, get the promotions. (Satow, Schenk, Wrigley, Vogt, Kang, Fronk, etc..) Maybe Anderson and Espinosa will be great, but it just seems a little too fast to me.
ReplyDeleteI would bet against MLB this year. They are only just hitting AA now, so a ways to go. But it's possible, relief pitchers are always in need as the season goes on, but Espinosa has only pitched 7.2 innings, so no way to know how good he is. Anderson turned 28 on March 30th, so he needs to move up. For him to reach MLB Pena would have to get hurt or traded, and even then we have better options at Durham.
