Per the Charlotte Stone Crabs, catcher Matt Spring has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, and 2009 draftee catcher David Wendt has been called up from extended spring training to replace him on the active roster. Spring was injured while catching in Tuesday night's 3-1 victory against Clearwater. He was tended to by trainer Chris Tomashoff and remained in the game for the rest of the inning, but was replaced defensively the next inning by Jake Jefferies.
Spring has hit .273 in 62 at-bats for Charlotte this year. Wendt was drafted last year in the 50th round, and hit .298 in 63 at-bats for the Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League in 2009.
Also on the Stone Crabs, RP Neil Schenk was added to the FSL All-Star roster today, giving the Stone Crabs a league-high total of nine players. Nick Barnese and Chris Andujar will both sit the game out because of necessary rest.
ReplyDeleteStill sort of a travesty that Fleming isn't on the All-Star roster. :/
ReplyDeleteFleming made the roster. The Stone Crabs have nine players to make the squad:
ReplyDeleteChris Andujar
Nick Barnese
Marquis Fleming
Zach Quate
Josh Satow
Neil Schenk
Isaias Velasquez
Stephen Vogt
Henry Wrigley
Fleming was added shortly after the initial seven were named.
Ah my bad. Glad he made it, 50something strikeouts in 30 innings is pretty insane.
