The Princeton Rays picked up their first win of the season by defeating the Bristol Sox 2-0 on Saturday night at Boyce Cox Field. P-Rays pitching led the club to victory, holding the Sox scoreless.
All of the games scoring took place in the top of the first inning. Kevin Kiermaier doubled to left to lead off the inning. Leonardo Reginatto followed with a single to third base. Ruben Contreras drove home both runners with a double to center, giving the Rays a 2-0 lead.
But that two run lead was all that was needed to give the Rays their first run of the season. Partridge pitched 6 shut-out innings, allowing 6 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. Mickey Jannis earned the save, pitching 3 innings and allowing 3 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1.
The Rays wrap up the series with Bristol in the rubber game on Sunday evening at Boyce Cox Field. Enny Romero (0-0, 0.00) will get the start, facing Ryan Buch (0-1, 7.20).
