Per team release: (Moosic, PA) Justin Ruggiano had two hits and four stolen bases, but the Bulls were unable to steal another late-inning run, and fell 4-3 to Scranton.
Durham (29-23) has split the first two games of its eight-game road trip with Scranton (31-21), the top team in the North Division.
Ruggiano helped the Bulls take a 1-0 lead in the second when he singled, stole second, and scored on a Ryan Shealy double to left.
However, Scranton batted around to score all four of its runs in the fourth against Aneury Rodriguez (2-3). Rodriguez had walked three in the first, but had not allowed a hit until the fourth.
Jason Cromer (3 IP) and Brian Baker (1 IP) threw shutout ball the rest of the way, and Durham clawed its way closer. Alvin Colina singled off Zach McAllister (5-2) with two out in the seventh to score Desmond Jennings.
In the eighth, Matt Joyce doubled, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on a shallow pop fly to second baseman Reegie Corona. Ruggiano then singled and stole his fourth base of the game, but was left stranded at second.
Jonathan Albaladejo threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his league-leading 17th save. Scranton is 16-4 in one-run games.
The Bulls will look to bounce back on Wednesday with Richard De Los Santos (3-2) on the mound against Dustin Moseley (2-2). Air time on 620 the Buzz is at 6:50, with first pitch at 7:05.
