The Princeton Rays won their fourth game in a row by defeating the Danville Braves 5-2 on Friday night at Legion Field. They trailed through much of the game. but a two rally beginning in the seventh led the P-Rays to victory.
Danville took the lead in that third inning. Elmer Reyes singled to center to get things started. Reyes advanced to third on a double by Jason Mowry. Andrelton Simmons knocked home a run with a ground ball that score Reyes to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
The Braves extended their lead in the fourth. A solo homerun by Daniel Falcon increased their lead to 2-0.
The Rays battled back to tie the game in the seventh. Ruben Contreras singled to left to lead off the inning. Contreras would then score on an RBI double by Alejandro Segovia. Segovia advanced to third and later scored on two wild pitches, tying the game 2-2.
The Rays took the lead an inning later in the eighth. Scott Lawson drew a walk to put a runner aboard. Bryan Fogle followed with an RBI double to drive in the go ahead run. Fogle was replaced by Todd Glaesmann as a pinch runner and he would then score on a triple by Contreras. Hector Guevara plated Contreras with a sac fly to give the Rays a 5-2 win.
Enny Romero pitched 4 2/3 innings, surrendering 2 runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and a walk in the no decision. Chris Rearick picked up the win by throwing 4 1/3 shut-out innings with only 2 hits.
The Rays look to sweep the Braves as they wrap up the series on Saturday night. Andrew Bellatti (0-1, 0.79) will make the start for Princeton against Carlos Perez (0-0, 0.90) is on the mound for Danville.
