The Tampa Bay Rays have announced their minor league players of the month for June 2010. Tyler Bortnick of the Bowling Green Hot Rods was named hitter of the month and Kyle Lobstein was named pitcher of the month.
Bortnick continues to perform well in Bowling Green following up a hot May with an even hotter June. He is hitting .294 with 24 doubles, 6 home runs, 29 RBI's and 24 stolen bases this season. He currently leads the team in most of the offensive categories.
Bortnick was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in Round 16 of the 2009 Draft out of Coastal Carolina. He spend 2009 with Hudson Valley and has been with the Hot Rods all season for 2010.
Lobstein was 4-0 for the month with a 1.19 ERA. He started five games in the month, pitching 30.1 innings and allowing only 4 earned runs with 27 strikeouts while holding hitters to a .174 average. He is now 5-4 on the season with a 4.27 ERA and 67 strikeouts.
Lobstein was drafted in the second round of the 2008 Draft. He was named the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week on August 31 while playing for Hudson Valley.
