The GCL Rays begin play in the 2010 Gulf Coast League Playoffs on Monday. The playoff format features four teams, one from each of the three division and the final team is a wild card. Round One is a one game series and the winner of each games move on to the best of three championship series. Below are the matchups for round one of the playoffs:
GCL Mets (30-25) vs GCL Phillies (32-24)
GCL Rays (34-26) vs GCL Marlins (36-19)
The Rays round one match up features their MLB cross-state rivals in the Marlins. The Marlins finished the season with the best record in the GCL. Here is how the teams stack up against each other:
This will be the first trip to the playoffs for the Rays and the fourth for the Marlins. The game is scheduled for noon on Monday in Jupiter, Florida.
