Saturday's Scores and Highlights

Indianapolis Indians 4, Durham Bulls 6
Bulls became first AAA team to reach 70 wins this season. JJ Furmaniak was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI's. Angel Chavez was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Leslie Anderson and Jose Lobaton each had an RBI. Darin Downs earned the win and Winston Abreu the save. The series concludes on Sunday.

Montgomery Biscuits 9, West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 1
John Matulia was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's. Matt Fields was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI's and a run scored. Drew Anderson was 3 for 5 with a double and a run scored. Henry Wrigley was 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Rashad Eldridge was 2 for 5. Emeel Salem was 2 for 6. Matt Spring plated 2 runs. Jeremy Hall picked up the win. Sergio Espinosa threw 2 no hit innings. Justin Garcia will make his first professional start on Sunday against West Tennessee.

Lakeland Flying Tigers 1, Charlotte Stone Crabs 0
Matt Moore set the franchise record with 13 strikeouts in the game and now leads the minors in strikeouts. The pitching staff (Moore, Neil Schenk and Zach Quate) combined to throw a franchise high 19 strikeouts in a nine inning game. Tim Beckham was 2 for 3. Isaias Velasquez was 2 for 4. Schenk suffered the loss. The Stone Crabs enjoy a day off on Sunday.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 5, Fort Wayne Tin Caps 6
Hot Rods had 6 hits from 6 different players. Tyler Bortnick had a solo home run. Julio Cedeno had a triple and an RBI. Mark Thomas had a pinch hit RBI. Scott Shuman was charged with a bad save and the loss after blowing the lead and surrendering 3 runs in the ninth inning. Albert Suarez will get the ball for Sunday's game against Fort Wayne.

Jamestown Jammers 3, Hudson Valley Renegades 4 (10 innings)
Mayobanex Acosta was 2 for 4 with a home run. Chris Winder was 2 for 4. Nick Schwaner drove home the winning run in the bottom of the tenth. Hunter Hill picked up the win. The Renegades face Jamestown again on Sunday, Jake Thompson will get the start.

Greeneville Astros 5, Princeton Rays 4 (12 innings)
The P-Rays picked up 7 hits from 7 different hitters. Scott Lawson had a triple. Hector Guevara had a double. Scott Lawson drove home 3 runs. Jeff Malm also had an RBI. Shane Minks suffered the loss. The P-Rays play Bluefield on Sunday, Andrew Bellatti will get the start.

GCL Rays 0, GCL Orioles 5
The GCL Rays managed 5 hits, but could not push a run across the plate. The offense struck out 7 times and went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position. Matt Swilley took the loss. Fifth round draft pick Ian Kendall made his debut, pitching 2/3 of an inning and surrendering 3 runs and 2 hits with a strikeout. The GCL Rays are off on Sunday.

DSL Rays 7, DSL Blue Jays 1
Jose Ruiz was 3 for 4 with a double, triple, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Adderly Rosa was 2 for 5. Jiminson Natera had 2 RBI's. Jesus Araiza was 2 for 4 with a double. Juan Wilsino earned the win. The DSL Rays are off on Sunday.

VSL Pirates 7, VSL Rays 8
Nahum Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a double. Leopoldo Correa was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Roan Salas was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Ismel Antunez was 2 for 5 with a double. Franklin Paz and Jonathan Quinonez each had a home run. Hugo Duarte was the winning pitcher. The VSL Rays conclude the 2010 regular season on Sunday against VSL Phillies.

  1. The Hot Rods trailed the whole game but rallied for 5 runs in the top of the 9th to take a 5 to 3 lead. Enter closer extraordinaire Scott Shuman. He walks the first batter, the second batter, the third batter, the fourth batter forcing in a run, the fifth batter forcing in the tying run and to top it off he hits the sixth batter to force in the winning run. How about them Hot Rods !!!!!
