The Tampa Bay Rays have called up Durham's Jake McGee to work from the Rays bullpen. McGee who has split the 2010 season between Montgomery and Durham pitching a combined 4-8 with a 3.07 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 105 2/3 innings. He was an amazing 0.52 ERA in 11 appearances with the Bulls in August.
McGee was drafted by Tampa Bay in the fifth round of the 2004 Draft. He has made the all-star squad in the Midwest League and the Florida State League as well as named player of the week twice (2007/2010) in the Southern League as well as led the organization in strikeouts in 2006 and 2007. McGee returned to the mound in 2009 after having Tommy John surgery in July 2008.
