  1. I didn't know where else to ask this, but with the recent trade that brought us Figueroa, who is consider higher on the Rays list now, Bortnick or Figueroa? And who do you think has more of a chance of starting in the majors of the 2? Both sound alike just that one bats left, and the other right and it seems that Bort may bring more power.

  2. I see that Colome is pitching relief in the league that he is in. Is that just to limit innings or is that what the Rays see him as going foward? And what is the competiton level like in the DWL?

  3. I give the edge to Tyler Bortnick. Figueroa probably can't play SS, Bortnick can (even if it's only average), although both are 2B. Figueroa only seems to have the edge in plate discipline, although if you look at it:

    Bortnick at BG (113 G): .303 BA, .408 OBP
Figueroa at Lake Elsinore (124 G): .303 BA, .408 OBP

I'm concerned that Figueroa "only" posted an .800 OPS in the offense-friendly Cal League.

    ...

As for the Colome question, it's almost certainly innings control. Although relief in his future isn't out of the question, the Rays won't move Colome to the bullpen until they have to.

  4. Figueroa can play SS

Cole Figueroa was SS at university like Bortick and played more games as SS with better fld% in minorleague .

    Figueroa : 159G as 2B, 86G as SS
    Bortnick : 113G as 2B, 51G as SS

I give the edge to Tyler Bortnick too because Bortnick's better ISOP

It is easy to compare two players. because they played in the same league(MID)at same age(22).

    bortnick 303/408/451
    figueroa 319/418/403

  5. You're right on the SS thing, for some reason I had it in my head that Figueroa's arm is below-average but the reports seem to be that it's solid if not plus. I don't see either as a SS long-term based on range and actions anyway, and I still like Bortnick better, but Figueroa can at least fill in at SS. If Tim Beckham is promoted to Montgomery, then Bortnick could start at SS in Charlotte. If Beckham repeats Charlotte, then Figueroa could start at AA in Montgomery.
