Scores and Highlights from 5/8

Durham Bulls 4, Syracuse Chiefs 0
Brian Baker and Chris Bootcheck combined on a two-hitter, striking out ten and walking two. All seven Durham hits were singles, and no one had more than one. Ray Olmedo drove in two.

Montgomery Biscuits off day

Bradenton Marauders 6, Charlotte Stone Crabs 2
Kyle Lobstein went 7 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. He didn't strike out a batter. Hak-Ju Lee went 3-4 with a triple, but the Crabs collected just two other hits: A home run by Anthony Scelfo and a double by Greg Sexton. Lee, Sexton, and Tyler Bortnick each committed an error.

Great Lakes Loons 3, Bowling Green Hot Rods 2
The top four in the Hot Rods order (Cody Rogers, Robby Price, Derek Dietrich, and Phil Wunderlich) went hitless. Kevin Kiermaier had two hits and Kyle Holloway drove in both runs with a 7th-inning double. The Loons won it in the bottom of the 9th with a two-out single off of Eliazer Suero.

  1. I noticed Jake Jefferies is on the Stonecrabs now, anyone know why?

  2. From Stacy Long at the Montgomery Advertiser.

Wendt with Biscuits, not on active roster
Catcher David Wendt has joined the Biscuits, though he isn't on Montgomery's active roster. The 24-year-old was a 50th-round draft pick in 2009 and has a .268 average in 33 career games. With Jake Jefferies going down to high-A Charlotte, ostensibly so the former third-round pick can play more, Wendt becomes Montgomery's third catcher.
