Desmond Jennings and Brandon Guyer each went 2-4 while Leslie Anderson also picked up two hits and Ray Olmedo had three. Russ Canzler had the go-ahead RBI single in the 8th after Cory Wade allowed a three-run home run. Jake McGee came in with two on and none out in the 8th, escaped without allowing a run and pitched a 1-2-3 9th. He struck out three and his fastball was consistently 94-96.
Jackson Generals 7, Montgomery Biscuits 3
Chris Archer allowed all seven runs -- four earned -- on nine hits and two walks in 5 innings. He struck out four. Frank De Los Santos pitched three scoreless innings. Nevin Ashley and John Shelby each had two hits. Tim Beckham went 1-5 with a double.
Daytona Cubs 10, Charlotte Stone Crabs 3
In his first start since coming off the DL, Jake Thompson allowed four runs (but only one earned) in 4 innings. He allowed five hits, a walk, and struck out two. Drew Leary allowed four runs in an inning of work. Anthony Scelfo had three hits and Matt Hall picked up two. Tyler Bortnick was 1-3 with two walks. Hak-Ju Lee and Mayobanex Acosta also walked twice.
Bowling Green Hot Rods 8, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6
Enny Romero allowed three runs -- one earned -- on five hits and three walks in 5 innings, striking out three. Cody Rogers went 2-5 with his ninth home run and 12th stolen base. Robi Estrada homered and drove in four.
It is good to know that Thompson is alive....
