The Rays demonstrated why they have one of the best farm systems in the minors as three Rays players took home Player of the Week Awards for the week ending on July 10. The Hot Rods swept the Midwest League Player of the Week awards with Derek Dietrich being named the hitter of the week and Victor Mateo earning the pitcher of the week. Then it was Jeff Malm representing the Renegades as the New York-Penn League hitter of the week.
Dietrich had 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 9 RBI's on the week while hitting .320/.393/.920 in 7 games this week. The highlight of the week was his first career multi-homer game against Great Lakes on Tuesday night.
Mateo threw the first no-hitter in Hot Rods history this week against Lake County on Friday. In the process, Mateo struck out 10 hitters.
Malm hit .450/.633/.950 in 6 games while recording 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 7 RBI's this week. On Sunday he led the Renegades to a come from behind win by going deep twice in the game. He has now reached base in 20 of the 21 games he has played this season.

ReplyDelete90 to 93 was the norm on that day however he did hit 94 a couple of times on the ballpark scoreboard gun.
