Gwinnett Braves 12, Durham Bulls 7
Despite taking an early lead, the Bulls could not overcome a six run third inning by the Braves as they fell 12-7 on Friday night. The Bulls out hit the Braves 13-9 but they could not turn those hits into runs. Every Bull made it on base at least once in the game with Leslie Anderson, Will Rhymes, Tim Beckham and Matt Mangini enjoying multi-hit nights. Chris Archer was charged with nine of the runs and took the loss. Marquis Fleming was responsible for the other 3 runs. The bullpen trio of Cesar Ramos, Brandon Gomes and Craig Albernaz combined for 3 shut-out innings to end the game.
Mississippi Braves 4, Montgomery Biscuits 0
The Biscuits offense was pretty much non-existent as they managed just two hits in a shut-out loss to the Braves. All four runs came off Biscuits starter Joseph Cruz as he fell to 0-2 on the season. Cole Figueroa and Brad Coon delivered the two hits for the Biscuits.
Charlotte Stone Crabs 3, Jupiter Hammerheads 2 (10 innings)
The Stone Crabs walked away with a thrilling extra innings win over the Hammerheads. Riccio Torrez waited till the tenth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games, but it was well worth the wait as he drove home the winning run to give the Stone Crabs the walk-off win. The game was dominated by a great pitching duel between Albert Suarez and Jupiter's starter Chad James. Phil Wunderlich drove home the Stone Crabs first run in the fourth. Then in extra innings, the Hammerheads took the edge by scoring in the top of the tenth. But the home team rallied in the bottom of the tenth with Mikie Mahtook driving home the tying run and Torrez driving home the winning run. George Jensen picked up the win and is now 2-0 on the season. Ty Morrison, Derek Dietrich and Robby Price each enjoyed a multi-hit night with Morrison and Dietrich both hitting doubles. BJ Upton got his first hit of his rehab stint, a single to right. Upton then proceeded to swipe second and third base.
Bowling Green Hot Rods 2, Lake County Captains 1
The Hot Rods left victorious in a close fought match-up against the Captains. Both of the Hot Rods runs came in the first inning but it proved to be all that was needed as the Hot Rods pitching staff commanded the game. Parker Markel kept the Captains off the scoreboard until the sixth inning, earning his first win of the season. Jacob Partridge and Austin Hubbard combined for 3 shut-out innings to round out the game. Kes Carter drove in a run with an RBI triple and Cameron Seitzer was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
