Scores and Highlights from 5/13

Durham Bulls 3, Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankees 1
The Bulls bounced back with a Mothers Day win over the Yankees. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the seventh when the Bulls put together back to back one run innings to earn the win. Shawn O’Malley was 3 for 5 with an RBI. Kyle Hudson was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Stephen Vogt was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. Matt Mangini was also 2 for 4. Chris Archer picked up the win, striking out 9 in 6 innings on the hill. Ryan Reid pitched 2 no-hit innings with 4 strikeouts. Brandon Gomes notched the save.


Jacksonville Suns 6, Montgomery Biscuits 2 (Game One)
The Biscuits dropped game one of Sunday’s doubleheader 6-2. The game was a scoreless tie through the first three frames until Jacksonville broke for a run in the top of the fourth. The Biscuits countered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth to take their only lead of the contest. The Suns then pushed across 5 unanswered runs to hand the Biscuits the loss. Ty Morrison was 2 for 4 and was the only Biscuit with multiple hits. Greg Sexton and Brad Coon each drove home a run. Jake Thompson was charged with the loss. Scott Shuman threw a no-hit inning, striking out 2 of 3 hitters faced.


Montgomery Biscuits 7, Jacksonville Suns 1 (Game Two)
The Biscuits split the doubleheader by winning game two by the score of 7-1. The bullpen combination of Merrill Kelly, Alex Koronis and Kirby Yates worked the game, holding the Suns to just 1 run on 3 hits. David Wendt was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with a triple and 3 runs scored. Tyler Bortnick, Ty Morrison and Emeel Salem each drove home a run. Koronis picked up the win.


Bowling Green Hot Rods, South Bend Silver Hawks (Postponed-Rain) 
Sunday’s Mother’s Day matinee between the Hot Rods and the Silver Hawks was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday.
