LHSP Geisel De La Cruz was assigned to the GCL Rays from the DSL Rays. The 19 year-old was the DSL Rays top prospect, nearly making my top 30 list but settling for an honorable mention.
In his U.S. debut earlier today he threw 6.0 shutout innings, allowing only 3 singles and a walk while striking out 8 batters. Here are his career stats entering today, all with the DSL Rays:
Year Age W L ERA G GS IP H R ER HR BB SO WHIP H/9 HR/9 BB/9 SO/9 2010 17 2 3 4.25 17 2 29.2 39 25 14 4 10 20 1.652 11.8 1.2 3.0 6.1 2011 18 1 3 2.02 13 12 58.0 45 23 13 1 16 59 1.052 7.0 0.2 2.5 9.2 2012 19 0 2 2.33 4 4 19.1 12 8 5 0 6 16 0.931 5.6 0.0 2.8 7.4 3 Seasons 3 8 2.69 34 18 107.0 96 56 32 5 32 95 1.196 8.1 0.4 2.7 8.0----------------
As expected, the reports after the game are that the Rays will activate RHRPs Kyle Farnsworth and Joel Peralta and RHSP Jeremy Hellickson for Saturday. They will send RHRP Brandon Gomes and LHRP Cesar Ramos to Durham. Gomes and Ramos will have 72 hours to report/be activated, so expect more Bulls moves in the next few days.
One last note, Farnsworth was on the 60-day DL so he will have to be added to the Rays 40-man roster before he can go on the 25-man. Since the 40-man is at 39 he can be added without any other moves that might cost the Rays a player (DFAing someone). Other players still on the 60-day DL are Sam Fuld, Jeff Niemann, Robinson Chirinos and Brandon Guyer, who is out for the year.
Do you know where to get a scouting report on Geisel De Le Cruz?
ReplyDeleteDe La Cruz is listed at 6'0" and 140 lbs in the Rays Media Guide. Is that a typo? What kind of 'stuff' does he have?
