Scores and Highlights from 6/19

Durham Bulls 8, Rochester Red Wings 2
The Bulls scored eight unanswered runs before giving up a pair of runs in the seventh as they cruised to a 8-2 win over the Red Wings. Stephen Vogt led the offense by going 4 for 5 with a double, home run and 3 RBI's. Brandon Allen was 3 for 5 and Reid Brignac had a two run homer. Alex Torres recorded the win, pitching 5 shut-out innings allowing a hit and striking out 6.


South All-Stars 6, North All-Stars 2
The South Division ended their seven year losing streak in the all-star game by defeating the North Division 6-2. Omar Luna was 1 for 2. Kyeong Kang was 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. Frank De Los Santos pitched a no-hit inning.
 

Charlotte Stone Crabs 8, Palm Beach Cardinals 6
The fourth inning would be the difference in Tuesday night's game was the Stone Crabs defeated the Cardinals 8-6. The Cardinals broke the scoreless tie by scoring five runs in the top of the fourth. But the Stone Crabs answered with eight runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. That was all they needed to earn a win over the Cardinals. Luke Bailey had a 3 run homer. Hector Guevara was 3 for 4. Robby Price was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Derek Dietrich and Phil Wunderlich had 2 hits a piece. Jimmy Patterson pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. Chris Rearick notched his 14th save of the season.


East All-Stars 18, West All-Stars 2
The East Division All-Stars jumped out to a huge 13-0 lead by the end of the second and never looked back as they easily won the 2012 Midwest League All-Star Game. Tyler Goeddel was 2 for 3 with a home run. Jeff Malm was 1 for 2 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Matt Rice was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Josh Sale was 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. Ryan Brett was 0 for 2. Felipe Rivero pitched a scoreless inning. Jake Partridge pitched 2/3 no-hit innings.


Aberdeen Iron Birds 8, Hudson Valley Renegades 3 
The Renegades could not overcome a five run fourth inning by the Iron Birds as they fell 8-3 on Tuesday Night. Marty Gantt was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Felix Gonzalez was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 run scored. Eduar Quinonez was tagged for all eight runs and suffered the loss. Jesse Hahn, Brandon Henderson and Jose Molina all had shut-out outings on the mound.


Princeton Rays 8, Kingsport Mets 4
The P-Rays won the 2012 season opener by the score of 8-4 over the Mets. Princeton had themselves a comfortable 6-0 lead before allowing the Mets on the scoreboard in the seventh inning. James Harris delivered a 3 run homer for the P-Rays. Oscar Hernandez was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Granden Goetzman was 2 for 4 with a double. Julian Morillo had 2 RBI's. Blake Snell picked up the win, striking out 7 in 5 scoreless innings. Zach Butler earned the save.


GCL Rays 3, GCL Red Sox 2
The GCL Rays improved to 2-0 on the season as the defeated the Red Sox in the home opener in Port Charlotte. The Rays trailed 2-1 going into the fifth when they struck for two runs to take the lead. The Rays were able to hold the lead the rest of the way as they won 3-2. Cesar Perez was 2 for 4 with an RBI on the afternoon. Johnny Eierman had a double for the Rays only extra base hit. Stepan Havlicek struck out 5 in four scoreless innings to earn the win. Kris Carlson notched the save.


VSL Tigers 6, VSL Rays 5 
The VSL Rays dropped their third straight following a 6-5 loss to the Tigers. The Rays exchanged runs with the Tigers but a lone run by the Tigers in the seventh would be the difference. Norly Suarez was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jose Paez had 2 hits and an RBI. Benjamin Molina was the loser.


DSL Cardinals 3, DSL Rays 0 
The DSL Rays lost their third straight as they were shut-out by the Cardinals 3-0. The Rays managed just five hits on the afternoon, all of them singles. Erodis Castillo suffered the loss.
