The Rays have named Alex Colome and Henry Wrigley as the players of the month for July.
Colome was 5-1 in July with 36 strikeouts and 2.23 ERA in 6 starts, including his first career complete came on July 29 against Mississippi. Colome is now 8-3 with a 3.31 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 16 games split between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham. He was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week to close out July prior to being promoted to Durham.
Wrigley continues to lead the Rays organization in offensive production, leading the organization in home runs and RBI’s while ranked third in the organization in batting average. He hit .370 for the month of July with 10 doubles, a triple, 3 home runs and 18 RBI’s. Wrigley is now hitting .305 with 34 doubles, a triple, 17 home runs and 73 RBI’s in 105 games split between Montgomery and Durham.
Wrigley’s performance in July also led him to being named the Topps International League Player of the Month for July.
